dtec.bw Annual Conference 2025

Research with added value for all dimensions

From September 1 to 3, 2025, this year’s dtec.bw annual conference took place at Helmut Schmidt University | University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg under the motto “Research with added value for all dimensions.” Experts from the fields of defense, politics, business, start-ups, and research gathered on the university campus to discuss digitalization and the technologies of tomorrow.

The event provided a comprehensive overview of current research projects at both universities of the German Armed Forces. In specialist exhibitions, science forums, and panel discussions, participants were able to exchange ideas on innovative developments and gain new impetus for cooperation between science, industry, and society.

dtec.bw Fab City project

Our contribution from the New Production Institute focused on the dtec.bw Fab City project:

the development of urban ecosystems in which data and knowledge circulate globally while production takes place locally. This vision of decentralized, resilient, and sustainable value creation is directly in line with dtec.bw’s mission to strengthen digital sovereignty and technological innovation.

Accompanying our consortium meeting, we presented the Fab City project in the OpenLab Mobile Truck – with films, exhibits, and live demonstrations. The interactive environment provided the ideal setting for inspiring discussions on how local production and circular economy approaches can contribute to the resilience and innovative capacity of our society.

A big thank you to all partners, participants, and organizers for the open and productive atmosphere of exchange and cooperation!

Funding

The Fab City project is funded by dtec.bw® – the German Armed Forces’ Center for Digitalization and Technology Research.. dtec.bw is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
